Shopping Haul

Hiya,

These are a few of our items we purchased shopping yesterday.

Megan and I both bought the Hollister body mist in the fragrance 'Laguna Beach'. It normally retails for £12 but we got it for £8 on the 3 for £24 deal. It smells amazing and has a sweet and summery smell. It may be pricey but we can pretend we are Hollister models when we wear it ! (hehe)

Megan got a grey bag in a thrift shop for £7.50. The brand is Westlink but we can't find a store on line to see the original pricing of it. It is a shoulder bag with separate handles to hold on to. We like the gold detailing to the bag because it compliments the colour. It has many compartments inside the bag and it has plenty of space to carry school books and day to day items.

I (Abi) got a pretty bird print scarf from Primark for £4. Since unfortunately winter is creeping closer and i'm starting sixth form in September, I thought this was perfect for layering. The design is beautiful and I know i'll get lots of wear out of it.

I also bought this cute H&M lace skirt for £7 in the sale. I love this skirt as it isn't too short and it can dress up any plain top. I've seen pictures of lace skirts like this everywhere this summer on Instagram and Pintrest so I was realy happy when I saw this in the sale :)

Next , Megan bought this grey a-line, skater dress from Primark for £5. This is such a bargain because they are so versatile to dress up or down for all seasons. I also bought this dress but in a deep green with black polkadots.

I then bought this busy patterned midi dress that I didn't think would suit me because i'm on the short side haha. But I realy like it and although it is fitted it is super comfortable , and for only £5 I was happy to pay for it.

Lastly I got this distressed grey t-shirt with 'love' written in a grey lace. This top is a simple idea but it looks effective. I got this for £5 in Republic. The brand is Soul Cal.

Summer OOTD

Hiya we thought it would be a nice change to our blog to start adding fashion posts as well as beauty, so today we took pictures of our outfits. Please tell us whether you like these posts :)

Firstly is Megan's outfit of the day. Her graphic
t-shirt is from primark, for £3, and her jeans are from some shop in spain! (sorry to not be helpful.) Her shoes are from M&M direct and they are by Voi jeans, costing £15.  Lastly her cream and navy blue shoulder bag is from primark for £9. The bow makes it look cute and nautical.

Next is my outfit (Abi's). My top is a white halterneck from Primark for £3, which I thought wasn't bad! My bag was from a market in Spain, for 5 euros. I love this bag because it matches my Vans and I really like the studded detailing on the side. I also like that it has a shoulder strap because I hate holding handbags as I feel too sophisticated haha. The jeans I am wearing are from H&M and they are stretchy jegging material. My shoes are rose pink vans and I got them from Foot asylum for £29 (I'll link the shop below).

The multi coloured skull bracelet was from Claire's for £2.50 and my silver inter-linking bracelet was from a shop on Ebay for like £5. My camera battery died so I couldn't photograph my necklace , but it is a crystal heart with small silver hoops on the chain and I got it from Dorothy Perkins.

Here are some close up shots of my bag. I'm not quite sure why the one to the right picture looks foggy though :S

Maybelline Baby Lips

I heard that the Maybelline Baby Lips were a hit in the USA, so when they launched them in the UK I couldn't wait to test them out for myself. I got the shade 'Pink Punch' which is like a super vibrant pink. At first I was going to pass on the colour because I wouldn't normally go for a bright colour , but now I'm so glad I didn't. It is amazing! It smells really fruity and the packaging is eye catching and cute.

It cost me £2.99 , which I think is pretty reasonable for what it is/

Superdrug were doing a buy 2 and get one free and I now wish I bought two, but oh well. Maybe next time...

Pink Punch

Please excuse my face , but this is what the colour looks like on :)

I really like this lip product because it looks like a lip balm , applies like a lipstick with a gloss finish and leaves a tint too. This will be perfect at school because it's no fuss and looks good :).

What do you think of this product?

MUA Eyeshadows

MUA , or Make Up Academy is a budget makeup brand that has the thrived in the past few years due to its amazing quality for the price. I've watched countless reviews and hauls with this brand and so I thought I would do my own review on my collection of eye shadows and palettes. I have quite a few products from this brand because it's affordable. I have 6 palettes and 5 single eye shadows , but I didn't photograph the 'undressed' palette because it's so battered that it wouldn't do it justice!

I will link their website below :)

However the 'Undressed' palette is definitely my favourite because the colours are neutral and warm , making them really wearable for everyday. I don't own any of the Urban Decay 'Naked' palettes (yet) , but I heard that the colours are fairly similar. I think I paid £4 for this palette and it was worth every penny because I use is all the time and the colours stay on all day.

Next palette I own is the 'Heaven and Earth' palette which is fairly similar to the 'Undressed' palette, but has more earthy tones. Normally on the back of the palettes it gives the shade number of each eyeshadow, but this one doesn't. I like the way you can see each shade without opening the packaging because it is made of a clear plastic.

Heaven and Earth

The 'Dusk till Dawn' palette is another one that has no description of its colours on the back, however the shades make up for it because they are so gorgeous. I love the bottom right charcoal black shade with flecks of glitter in it, it really adds to a smokey eye look.

Dusk till Dawn

The 'Immaculate Collection' is the largest palette in the MUA collection so far as it has 24 shades for £8. The variety of shades you get is really mixed and they don't seem to go in any particular order arranged in the palette either. I love the way there are matte and pearl colours and the white could come in handy for highlighting the inner corner of the eye (to make you seem awake) or highlight the brow bone. This palette I got when I spent over £10 for free , otherwise I wouldn't have possibly bought it because I don't normally have the confidence to go for a bold colour on my eyes except for my safe neutrals. But for the price and quality I would recommend it to anyone who likes to wear more vibrant colours.

I also got the 'Artiste Collection' from another online purchase deal for free. Again I have not really used it much either but I like the set up and size of the colours and you also get 2 blushes , bronzer and a highlighter, making it handy to take away travelling.

Lastly of the palettes is 'Going for Gold'. This came out about the time of the 2012 London Olympics and I bought it because having blue eyes I thought I would wear the majority of the shades (which I haven't) but I love the colours and going out these shades would look great for a smokey look.

Now on to single shades for £1, they are by far unbeatable for their value for money and you get 2 grams of product. I swatched these 5 colours on my hand and the shade numbers from left to right are ; 5 which is a pearl finish, 18 matt, 4 pearl, 30 pearl and 22 pearl. I think they are good quality , they do not crease easily and are very pigmented. The only one I'm not as keen on is shade 18, the matt purple because it can be slightly chalky. Otherwise these are amazing shades and will last you for a long time.

Real Techniques Brushes!

I wanted to write a new post on the Samantha Chapman, Real Techniques brushes for a long time, but never had the courage to purchase them in the first place. So I did some research and I bought some of these brushes today!

They should arrive in about 3-4 days and I got the travel essentials , core collection and the starter set. I looked online for the best deals for these brushes and found a website called  iHerb (I'll link the website below). For all three of these sets it cost me £31, which for what I had found elsewhere was amazing! I had used a discount code which gave me $10 my first purchase and shipping only cost me $4 to the UK.

If you are interested in also getting these brushes I will do a review when they arrive and I have left a discount code which gets you $10 off your first purchase on iHerb.com. I have heard these brushes are great for the price and I cannot wait for them to arrive in the post.

Abi's July Favourites

Here are my July favourites of last month.

Here are the swatches. From left to right MUA - sealed with a kiss, Wet n Wild eyeshadow - cherub, Kiko eyeshadow - 129 and ELF blush in the shade - candid coral.

Firstly my number one favourite of July is the L'OREAL Volume Million Lashes , in the shade dark sapphire. I especially like this mascara because it is designed for blue eyes. I don't usually like other mascara shades apart from black and brown , however this mascara doesn't appear too blue on the lashes , but enhances the eye colour. It is really good for concentrating on stubborn lashes and helps to achieve full and dramatic eyes without need for eyeliner. It lengthens and thickens and i purchased this on eBay brand new from a shop for a fraction of the retail price in store. I think it was about £3.50.

Next is the ELF blush in the shade candid coral. I love this shade because it looks beautiful for summer time and keeps the face looking natural. The shade is quite build able and lasts all day. I think the price of this was £3.75 in their professional range.

My other favourite product is the Kiko single eyeshadow in the shade number 129, this is my go to shadow because its is super pigmented, looks natural and has small flecks of glitter in it , making it perfect for day and night. The colour doesn't crease even without a primer and I highly recommend it. I got it in the sale last year for £1.50 , which is a bargain for it's quality and you get 3 grams of product.

My last favourite is this single Wet n Wild eyeshadow in the shade cherub. This colour is very smooth and lasts well on the eyes; I use it mainly in the centre of my eyelid to add more dimension to my eyes and it brightens them. I got this from pound land and I had never used this brand before because I think it's sold more in the US, however i really like it.

Megan's July Favourites

Hiya, we would like to share with you our favourite products from July. We will leave links to some of the websites of the products listed.

Here is an over view of Megan's July favourites.

Below is Megan's favourite products of last month. She chose the MUA all in one beauty balm, also known as a BB cream because it primes, conceals and smooths. It feels nice on the skin and gives a light coverage, so I wouldn't recommend it to a high coverage foundation replacement. One down side to this product is , despite the price being a respectable £4, it doesn't offer an SPF protecting which slightly defeats the point of it being a BB cream.

Next she chose the Barry M limited edition lip glosses as they smell amazing (like strawberry sherbet and vanilla ice cream) and give a pretty iridescent shimmer on the lips. Keeping to the theme of lip products she also likes the Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in the shade 025. The name is Sky Line Pink and it is a pearl finish product. It is is soft and smooth on the lips, which helps in the sun to keep lips hydrated and prevents them chapping. The colour is like a nude/pink and is fairly sheer on the lips.

Now on to eyes and Megan chose the ELF eye widener in pearl white. At an affordable price of £1.50 she uses it in the corners of her eyes to widen and awaken them before school and work. It's easy to apply for on the go and doesn't crease much on the eyes , making it perfect for a long day out. Another nice thing is it comes with its own sharpener so you don't need to hunt for one.
Lastly Megan's favourite is the Maybelline New York colossal volume express cat eye mascara. This mascara has the longest name in the world! It is in the colour black and gives dark thickened lashes , without the spider leg eyelash look.

P.S please check out Abi's July favourites coming up in the next post. :)

Kiko Nail Varnish Review

On holiday I came across a brand called Kiko, they sell beauty products all over Europe, for high quality but good prices on their items. Kiko is an Italian professional makeup brand that offers a range of cutting-edge makeup for all ages. We will leave a link to the website below.

In store they had a sale on , so I bought several nail varnishes as shown below. I found the quality was really good for the price of £1.50! I got 8 polishes in total. One was a magnetic nail colour, another was a sun pearl which looks beautiful in sunlight, a mirror effect polish and 5 normal varnishes.

For the price I can't fault the quality of them , as they last really well also. I tested them on holiday throughout the heat and being on the beach and they lasted about 4 days. They are highly pigmented also, so some of the colours I only needed one coat.

So far I haven't come across any major faults towards these polishes except for the mirror varnish that I hoped would look like it had more of a mirror effect.

At the moment Kiko are having a sale on some of their products , including nail varnishes , ranging from 50p to £2.50. I have listed below the numbers of the varnishes if you want to look these shades specifically on the shop.

From left to right ; 255 , 703, 428, 298, 277, 283, 358, 616

Here are a few close up shots of our favourite nail polishes :)
